Grey's Anatomy
If you were once a big fan of ER but kinda stopped paying attention to it once George Clooney left and Dr. Greene died, I highly recommend Grey's Anatomy. I've watched it since last year. It is more of a drama set in a hospital rather than a hospital show with dramatics... which I totally enjoy. Last night's epi was great. Just thought you should know.

Bad Scot
I neglected to realize/observe that yesterday was Robbie Burns Day. Does that make me a bad Scot? Does it make me a bad Scot if I don't really care about Robbie Burns or Scottish poetry? Well I'm only half, so am I allowed to be a day late? Hehe. Well, I did remember it's Australia Day today and I don't know any bad Australians personally (anymore)... ah well. Throw another haggis on the barbi.

Birthday haul
I wonder when it was I let on that I enjoy Euro-trash techno? D'oh! I got a Ministry of Sound double album as well as the It's all Gone Pete Tong soundtrack. That's 4 CDs taking up half of my CD space in the car. Mmm, bumpcza bumpcza bumpcza.
I also got much appreciated cards, gift certificates, picture frame, and Pride & Prejudice DVD.
Then I went to Whistler and snowboarded my ass off. Weee haw. Still can't toe-turn. Double d'oh!

oh my god.
i have found my new music station. plays a perfect mix of britpop and even plays some old stuff like old school Texas. could do without listening to James Blunt three times a day, and they also have a tendency to play a little too much Robbie Williams, but it is a suffering I can bear to hear when most of it is all good. unfortunately no R&B (UK or otherwise), so I guess if i want my fix i can change genres from time to time.
It's not for everyone, but it works for me...
Check out the other stations at What's On.com, and choose your station.
am i sad?
I bought new pants on Tuesday. they are too long. but I love them and want to wear them. so I have 'hemmed' them temporarily with safety pins and scotch tape. here's hoping they shrink in the wash before i get them hemmed properly.

Philosophy of Doubt
yes Naf, that is correct. but i found the words themselves transcend the passage. i.e. not necessarily pertaining to religion. after having the book lay around the house for over a year and a half, and even taking it on vacation (and not reading), i got into it... i have to say, it was pretty good. but it didn't make me more of a believer in God than the critics purported one to. (for the record, yes i do.) that's fiction for ya. and that's also one lesson for the new year - to not expect a work of fiction to change one's life. i made that mistake with Atlas Shrugged.

Facing the music
New evening shows on Capital FM sucks. They play 'wind down' music from about 2 PM to god knows when, which is London's 10:00 PM to god knows when. The music is not so much 'wind down' as it is 'time to kill myself to sad ass music' in the manner of Karyn White's "I'm not your Superwoman" and Boyz II Men "I'll make love to you" or anything written/produced/touched by Babyface in the early 90's. It doesn't help the late afternoon doldrums.
Snoooooooooooooooooooore.
I have had to find a new radio station, which may or may not be expanding my horizons... still looking at UK radio stations. Yesterday it was BRMB, and I thought today it would be the same but they were broadcasting a soccer game. LAME. So switched to Virgin radio. Would not load. Virgin Extreme. Did not like music. Xfm. Not exactly my bag but sufficiently distracting. And there is something wrong with the volume, or the bandwidth controlling the volume. It goes really low so I can't hear it, so I turn up the computer volume, and then a few minutes later it sounds so loud. LAME. I'm sick of Xfm now. Too alternative for me.
I'm turning 29 on Saturday. No comment.

Yesterday
I learned that if I leave my coffee mug in the office kitchen galley, someone will get around to cleaning it, instead of me leaving it on my desk to rot with un-drunk coffee at the bottom. I've always been afraid to let go of my mug outside my office for fear that someone might appropriate it for their own. Like someone's done to my lunch when it doesn't have my name on it. But it makes sense, why steal a dirty mug? Someone nice just washed mine for me. We don't even have cleaning rags or sponges. So now I'm a little bit suspect.
I also learned something else valuable yesterday but I've forgotten already. Wine and steam and chlorine will do that to you.
Today I had two options for activity: go to Wedding Fair for Michelle; or go to Baby World for the Mussons. I slept in until about an hour ago... there's no telling where I'll end up.
At boyfriend's apartment. It is damn cold and there's nothing we can do about it because it's in the basement and heat rises. Anyway he went to some seminar and has left me alone to listen to the thump-thump-thumping of the kids upstairs. Also crying and general noisiness. Will not comment on lack of parental discipline at this point.
A decision has been made! Suburbs it is.

Contentment breeds forgetfulness... or laziness.
Yes, my year in review has come in a few days off the mark. Hope you weren't holding your breath.
highlights of the last year, in my view: - watching Al "Lean Back" - visit from Fri in time for my birthday! - visit from Hena & Karla! - going to Whistler, twice! - learning to scuba dive! - off-setting depression! - 2 month visit from Scott! - Junko & David returning to Vancouver with expectant news! - Cultus Lake! Burn everything! - met Simon (awww) - spent Labour Day scuba diving and kayaking with Mark & Hena - dressing up like militant folk for Hallowe'en! - going to St. Maarten for 2 weeks! getting a decent tan! - M&T getting engaged! - NYE at Biznatch's!
Right then, predictions: MV & T will set the date: Oct. 7 or 14. Dr. Dorfmeister will see a FIFA game... with JD. Luscious will set a trend Blondie will reconstitute new meaning to an old word, in the essense of 'waft' and 'lucid.' Point point! Biznatch will have more guests on his couch in the UK than he can handle. The Mussons lied. They are having twins. Or will have Irish twins. Hena will quit the GAP Scampbe will shack up
that's all i can think of for now.
